Traveling wave solutions of a reaction diffusion model for competing pioneer and climax species.

Presented is a reaction-diffusion model for the interaction of pioneer and climax species. For certain parameters the system exhibits bistability and traveling wave solutions. Specifically, we show that when the climax species diffuses at a slow rate there are traveling wave solutions which correspond to extinction waves of either the pioneer or climax species. A leading order analysis is used ...

Some traveling wave solutions of soliton family

Solitons are ubiquitous and exist in almost every area from sky to bottom. For solitons to appear, the relevant equation of motion must be nonlinear. In the present study, we deal with the Korteweg-deVries (KdV), Modied Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) and Regularised LongWave (RLW) equations using Homotopy Perturbation method (HPM). The algorithm makes use of the HPM to determine the initial expansion...

Traveling Wave Solutions in a Reaction-Diffusion Model for Criminal Activity

We study a reaction-diffusion system of partial differential equations, which can be taken to be a basic model for criminal activity, first introduced in [3]. We show that the assumption of a populations natural tendency towards crime significantly changes the long-time behavior of criminal activity patterns. Under the right assumptions on these natural tendencies we first show that there exist...

Mean Field Effects for Counterpropagating Traveling Wave Solutions of Reaction-Diffusion Systems

In many problems, e.g., in combustion or solidification, one observes traveling waves that propagate with constant velocity and shape in the x direction, say, are independent of y and z and describe transitions between two equilibrium states, e.g., the burned and the unburned reactants. As parameters of the system are varied, these traveling waves can become unstable and give rise to waves havi...
